The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities towards the violations and crimes that prisoners in Israeli occupation prisons are subjected to, in clear violation of international law.
In a statement reported by the Palestinian Wafa Agency, the ministry called on the UN Security and Human Rights Councils to urgently intervene and pressure the occupation to release all prisoners, especially the 43-year-old captive Muhammad al-Halabi, who entered his sixth year in a row in the occupation’s prisons.
The ministry indicated that the prisoner Al-Halabi, who was arrested in 2016, was subjected to a harsh interrogation and physical and psychological torture that lasted for 52 days, causing him to lose 50 percent of his hearing.
The ministry condemned this heinous crime that Al-Halabi is exposed to in front of the eyes of the world, considering that it is an integral part of the brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and their usurped rights.
About 5,000 Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli jails face harsh detention conditions, including about 600 prisoners who need urgent medical intervention.
