Martinsmarkt, street food and Sunday shopping in Penzberg created a synergy effect.

And so the operators of the food trucks were satisfied with the number of visitors despite the bad weather.

Penzberg

- For Michael Zießelsberger, a visit to the Martinsmarkt and the street food market is part of the course of the year.

He started with a Thuringian bratwurst and at noon came to Vietnamese beef soup with lemongrass via Greek tsatsiki.

The Penzberger appreciates the variety of the dishes on offer: “You don't have to travel far for these specialties, the whole variety comes from here.” And this variety ranges from “extraordinary to unique and takes some getting used to”.

By getting used to, he means that many dishes are too low in fat for him.

He understands that, because “if someone is working on the computer, then one muesli bar is enough for him a day”, but as a reinforced concrete constructor, he prefers more nutritious things.

He also bought sage salami to take away, "with sage, because sage is healthy," as he emphasizes.

"You can tell that people want to get out," states the organizer of the street food market, Marcel Harsanyi.

Despite the bad weather, his market was well attended because, after the restrictions that have existed since last year, it is again offering a change.

In addition, the Martinsmarkt is running at the same time, and Sunday is open for shopping in the city.

These markets “mutually enrich one another”, he says.

18 food trucks, over 30 restaurants and numerous open shops - that's what draws visitors to the city.

The truck operators were consistently satisfied.

Although Saturday was poorly attended because of the rain, things are going well overall, according to Viktor Szabó. He came from Dunaalmási, a small town on the Danube between Györ and Budapest. He offers the Hungarian specialty Lángos, a deep-fried yeast dough cake with a salty or sweet topping.

Sweet things go particularly well in cold weather, as Peter Moser, who bakes donuts from yeast dough, notes.

Sunday was the better day for him too.

Business was also good for Gökhan Ates, who sells burgers.

It found that there are now a lot of people entering the market who “just missed something” over the past year.

There was little rush on the neighboring Martinsmarkt until noon.

According to Monika Schmid from the “Hexenküche”, the morning visit was “still very modest”.

But this doesn't say anything, because most of the market visitors don't come until 2 p.m.

It was no different with Mehmet Akin, who offered table linen.

Not much went up until lunchtime, "but billing is not done until the evening," says the Fierant from Balingen.

"The weather and Corona" sees a Fierant from the Gamic region as the reason that few customers came.

Some people would not dare to leave the house, he suspected.

A colleague from the Miesbach area, on the other hand, was pleased that there was a market at all.

After the long-lasting restrictions, this was something positive, he agreed with his colleagues on that.
