Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the maneuvers that the United States of America is conducting with its allies in the Black Sea are of a provocative nature that would increase tension in relations between Russia and NATO.

The Kremlin said in a statement today that "the Russian President, during a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, drew attention to the provocative nature of the large-scale maneuvers that the United States is conducting with a number of its allies in the waters of the Black Sea," stressing that this matter increases tension in relations between Russia and NATO.

The statement added that Putin and Macron expressed during the call their dissatisfaction with the lack of any progress in settling the internal conflict in Ukraine, pointing out that the Russian President stressed that Kiev continues its harmful policy that undermines the Minsk agreements.

The statement also noted that the two presidents expressed their satisfaction with the regular meeting of the Russian-French Security Cooperation Council, which was held in Paris on the twelfth of this month in Paris with the participation of the foreign and defense ministers of the two countries.

The two presidents discussed topical issues on the bilateral and international agenda, including combating the spread of the coronavirus, according to the statement.

On the other hand, according to a statement made by an official at the French Elysee Palace after the phone call, Presidents Putin and Macron agreed to “de-escalate” the migrant crisis on the borders of Belarus and Poland, noting that the purpose of this call was to end this crisis.
