Why are the images of Middle Eastern migrants attempting to force their way into Poland from Belarusian territory so disturbing to us?
Would they be significant of a triple impotence of the European Union (EU)?
First of all, no one seems to respect EU regulations on extra-European immigration any longer, which provide for strict procedures for labor immigration, or for obtaining political refugee status.
It is as if European law had a natural vocation to be trampled on.
We see strong young men attacking, with impunity, with shears and pickaxes, the barriers of the Polish border.
Since Angela Merkel took the unilateral decision to open up Germany's borders in September 2015 (to close them a month later), resourceful young people with a good network of smugglers have arrogated to themselves the right to settle in the territory of the Union
