Ryabkov: There are no indications of a possible thaw between Moscow and Washington

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stressed today that there are no indications of a possible thaw in relations between Russia and the United States.

In an interview with Tass Agency, Ryabkov explained that the current dialogue between Moscow and Washington did not serve to solve the real problems. He said: “The recent multiple contacts between the two sides are nothing more than a simulation of the frantic activities of the American side, and it fits perfectly with the declared ideology of the American dual approach towards Russia, which was not It never helps to find solutions to real problems.”

He added, "For this reason, I do not find indications of a thaw between the two sides at all, but rather that we are in a state of expansion of this icy state in relations, contrary to the declarations issued by Washington from time to time."

Commenting on the United States’ request to leave 55 Russian diplomats working within the Russian missions in the United States, Ryabkov expressed Moscow’s dissatisfaction in this regard, adding that if this issue is not resolved, and if the Americans insist on their decision, response measures by Moscow will be inevitable.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said earlier that there are 130 US diplomats in Russia, while there are less than 200 Russian diplomats and technical personnel working in the Russian Embassy in Washington and its consulates general in New York and Houston.

In addition, Ryabkov stressed that the situation on Ukraine and the Black Sea region has become more precarious than ever, while the United States insists not to listen to Russia's position on these two issues.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had announced earlier in an interview with Russia 1 channel that the United States and NATO countries were conducting unscheduled military exercises in the waters of the Black Sea using strategic aviation, in a serious challenge to Russia.

Ryabkov pointed out that the policy pursued by the United States and its allies in the West is responsible for the actions of the Kiev authorities, which have increasingly turned into reckless provocative actions.
