For the second time, the municipality of Poing is paying support money to local associations from a specially set up Corona aid fund.

This time it's 15,900 euros.

Poing - Mayor Thomas Stark announced the idea shortly after taking office in May 2020: The money saved for expenses at the folk festival (for example, honorary reception and senior afternoon), which had been canceled due to Corona 2020, should be transferred to a Corona aid fund for Poing clubs flow.

If necessary or upon request, funds should be paid out of it.

For example, to cover loss of income due to canceled events.

Poing: Money from the canceled festival

Last year the community paid out a total of 22,000 euros: 8,000 euros to the boys' association, 7,000 euros to the family center, 5,000 euros to the band and 2,000 euros for the club cartel.

Because the Corona situation has not changed significantly and the festival had to be canceled this year as well, the community offered the aid package again this year.

“As a token of solidarity and gratitude,” it says in an announcement by the mayor that has now been read out at the municipal council meeting.

Further: "Voluntary work is very important for the community."

Four Poingen associations have applied for support

A total of 50 associations were written to and informed about the offer of help.

According to the administration, six associations have asked for support.

One of them asked for the cost of an advertisement to promote young talent in the local news bulletin, the municipality had given a promise for two advertisements.

Ultimately, four associations had applied for specific financial support - the money (a total of 15,900 euros) was granted as follows, announced Mayor Stark in the local council:

• Family Center: 7,400 euros (for the purchase of two air purification devices);

• Music band: 4000 euros;

• Association cartel of the municipality of Poing: 2500 euros;

• Model Railway Club: 2000 euros plus waiver of hall rent for the next exhibition event.

As the administration announced in the municipal council meeting, these associations have "demonstrated considerable losses, which resulted from ongoing payment obligations such as salaries or rents and a lack of income, especially through the cancellation of events and offers (family center, music band and club cartel) due to the corona restrictions .
