Small cars, great fun: We tested Hot Wheels | Israel today

2021-11-15T09:14:44.334Z

Hot Wheels is a toy factory life enterprise that has been running since the 60s • In gaming the brand's foothold with us since the 90s, so what's new in the field now at the end of 2021? • Valerie Ortenberg took the wheel, the game for review - and came back with insights, and some Total-Loss cars

Disclosure: I do not remember if I actually owned hot wheels, probably I did.

Still, this is Mattel's best-selling toy car brand in the world, which burst into consciousness somewhere in the late 1960s and rose to the top of the toy world and has not dropped from there since.

I do remember, longingly as they say, how much fun it was to be a kid, to play in toy cars that absorb full of saliva because of engine sounds I made, usually not very skillfully, with my mouth, while every dresser, table or floor section became a random track.

What turned out to be even nicer than being the same kid, is being a thirty-year-old man who can sit lazily and play for hours in a game that delivers great graphics, alongside challenging tracks and a crazy customization interface.

All this was taken care of by the Italian company "Milestone", an empire in the world of racing games, with the new title Hot wheels unleashed ""

This is not the first Hot Wales video game, I still remember the game I had for the PlayStation 1 - somewhere in the late 1990s.

But this time, the creators of the game are particularly bombastic, with an innovative version landing among all gaming consoles and on the computer.

When I first took the sign in my hands and started the game, I did not "fly" on it too much.

It took me a few more games to figure out the depth, customization, and huge pan that it has, so it's worth the time to enjoy it to the maximum.

I'll give you the amulet right now: this is a fine piece of travel in the depths of nostalgia alongside a particularly satisfying arcade experience.

Fasten belts

Is there a window next to you?

Fine, throw out everything you knew about racing games.

“Hot wheels unleashed” differs in a number of ways.

And here I was able to thread the word "roads" into a review of a car race.

The environment in which you drive the small cars is not typical.

There is no desert, city or plains of Tuscany here, for example, but the world exists in a basement that claims to be a kind of "men's den", from construction sites to a library in college.

The environment is

perfectly

sized

for the miniature cars that burn the track built into it - it is a deep and calculated measurement work, like scenes taken from "Ant-Man", and there is even a pizza carton to treat!

Get away from the classic games like need for speed or forza - these are kids games.

Ironic, right?

That actually a game that features toy cars makes a school for everyone.

Every track and race was a lot of fun.

Do not let the initial impression be misleading - as you progress, you will be exposed to insane and complex routes that contain a variety of obstacles, from a small checkpoint to a huge spider that will send you beams that will stop you in place.

The game gives the feeling of fun and dizzying speed at 360 degrees: sound, visuals and even the vibration on the remote that completes the experience.

The acclaimed physics puts in a lot of excitement, one that makes you pull the remote back and forth and even try to get up from the armchair because, God knows how, but maybe it will help.

An intense feeling of control over a real, unstable toy car, which depends on the grace of your fine motor skills, the player.

All this is doubly upgraded with the correct and smart use of the "booster" button that is loaded for you thanks to successful drifts, charging sediments that are along the track and successful exercises.

A complete pleasure.

At one point even my wife, Karen, asked to do a round on the game.

And that's gentlemen, says it all.

That Special One

Looking for a car that will take you to infinity and beyond is not an easy task in "Hot Wheels Unleashed".

Each car has a unique world to it, a certain player may be great in a specific car but really bad in another car, it all depends on his style of play.

Take your time, invest in the search, and you will find the one car that will fly you forward (and not off the track).

To my delight, I found the "Supercharger" and friends, this is a love story.

As I watch her yellow spoiler launch to El Al I can not help but hear Shimi Tavori sing "We promised each other".

And here guys and girlfriends, we got to about 90% of the game's magic secret: loyalty to the original.

These are not just three-dimensional models, but a situation where we actually see and feel that we are in control of an original toy car - with all that that implies.

Down to the details?

Amazing.

Some of the cars look so real that it drives the mind crazy. Everything has been given the respect it deserves, a real sacred work that brings another tremendous achievement to this brand that just has not fallen short of its greatness for more than fifty years.

On the way, iconic vehicles are also waiting for you: from the Batmobile to the Delorian from "Back to the Future".

So take your time until you find the one that just makes you a heart booster (drums please).

The whole world

The game offers you a variety of options: whether you are looking to burn a few minutes in a flash race, play online or commit to a career mode reminiscent of the style of "Mario Kart 3", with a huge city map that includes races against others and races against the clock - which I especially liked .

In addition, the game contains within it a whole cut of very focused customization.

One that is made possible by the "money" and "cogs" we can earn after each race, which is part of the drive that drives us for that matter in career mode, or when we sell cars we no longer use.

But not only the cars can be built and upgraded, but also build our own tracks and adapt to the environments in which the races take place.

The options are very diverse, though perhaps too diverse.

So many options, that just get hard to follow, does that make sense?

Obviously this is welcome and appreciated, but also feels a bit redundant.

What I found disappointing was the fact that some of the game's more special tracks were locked and could be "bought" with the money you earn in the game (and let's hope we don't have to pay real money for it in the future, as in many other games).

But there is an original solution to this thanks to the extensive customization mentioned a moment ago - just play the tracks created by other players, believe me they are just as good and will provide you with hours of fun entertainment.

In conclusion

They should sell the above game with a warning like there is on cigarette packs.

Even people who are not fans of racing games, will find themselves very easily addicted to "Hot Wheels Unleashed" and the experience it provides. The game knows how to adapt itself to both high level players Low, and everything is well seasoned so well that those of us who have played a lot in the past have embarked on a nostalgic journey that will take them back to childhood, to games of yesteryear that were simple and brought an experience that was net fun.

The game is played on the
