Some time ago I wrote an article about the CCP’s founding TV drama "The Awakening Age", which is a work about the original intention of the CCP to build the party.

It was during that "awakening" that the Chinese thought deeply about their future destiny, and some visionary people established the Chinese Communist Party.

This 100-year-old party recently convened the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee to reflect on and sum up the experience of the party’s one hundred years of founding, and formulated the third "Historical Resolution."

It is not only a summary of the practical experience of the past century, but also an attempt to usher in another "age of awakening" at an important juncture of major changes unseen in a century.

The aim of this "awakening" is no longer China's salvation, but how the Chinese face the new form of human civilization and think about how to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

It is a pity that Hong Kong and the Western world have not yet "awakened", unable to understand China and the CCP, let alone see the common crises and challenges of mankind in the new "awakening."

Few people understand the way that China shares "historical resolutions" to explain things.

The CCP has issued three "historical resolutions": Mao Zedong issued the first in 1945, Deng Xiaoping formulated the second in 1981, and Xi Jinping just prepared the third.

After the CCP issued the first "Historical Resolution", it defeated the Kuomintang army and established a new China. After the second "Historical Resolution" was issued, the CCP actively promoted reform and opening up and successfully developed the Chinese economy; many people believe that today's third This historical resolution will provide an understanding and theoretical basis for China to carry out another national leap.

To know history is to enlighten the moment

I consider myself to be a person with a great sense of history. I believe that history can provide guidance for the advancement of mankind and society. Only through historical knowledge and reflection can mankind control its own destiny.

Certain types of people like to criticize and criticize the CCP, but as long as they have a historical perspective and understand the present through history, they will know that they don't really understand what is happening in China and the CCP.

The development trajectory of the CCP’s leadership in China is very different from the West they are familiar with before, but they are unwilling to accept their own ignorance. As a result, they are misled by their own "great myopia", wrongly defined the nature of China's development, and even complained about the CCP in recent years. "Cheated" them.

In fact, they neither understand China nor know the changes that are taking place in the world. This is because they cannot understand China's development from a historical perspective, let alone understand what historical track the world is on.

History is the accumulation of experience. It is not only an arrangement of historical events, but also a reflection on historical experience, providing ideological guidance for understanding the present.

History is not about knowing how long Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, and Kangxi lived, how many concubines and concubines they fought, and what battles they fought. It is about knowing how to learn from history and why we must refer to the experience and lessons of history when discussing the trend of the times.

Mao Zedong's first "Historical Resolution" reviewed why the CCP made left or right mistakes in the early days and was close to demise.

The "Historical Resolution" presided over by Deng Xiaoping made severe criticisms of the Cultural Revolution, so that later generations were wary of any social movements that lead to extremism.

Many people are convinced that China’s achievements today are because the society highly recognizes that the leftist line is a destructive force. It must be prevented before everyone can concentrate on economic development.

We can look at "one country, two systems" from the concept of "body use", "one country" means "body", "two systems" means "use", body-based, and use as an example.

Many people view "One Country, Two Systems" from different angles. It reflects that people have different understandings of history and different values and pursuits. This makes it difficult to grasp the "Two Systems" tolerance.

Hong Kong and the Mainland have the same writing and the same species, but have different values for the same period of history. This is because different historical understandings affect our judgment of the present.

When we think that the "two systems" refer to socialism and capitalism, and that autocracy and centralization and democracy and freedom are the difference or even opposition between them, then we obviously have a misunderstanding of history, including a misunderstanding of Deng Xiaoping’s conception. Thinking and taking responsibility.

We can look at "one country, two systems" from the concept of "body use", "one country" means "body", "two systems" means "use", body-based, and use as an example, because the historical experience of the two places is great Although the difference does not completely separate the two groups, it creates difficulties for the smooth operation of the "body". In this case, we should respect history and provide space for everyone at the level of "use" to alleviate the different historical experiences. Unaccustomed in life.

If we use a historical perspective to understand "one country, two systems", it is estimated that such a divergent interpretation will not happen.

The other end of history is the present. The role of historical understanding must be for the present, but some people think that they only need to live in the present, and they are unwilling to accept that the present can only be understood through history.

If you don’t grasp what happened in the past, you don’t know why it is happening now; if you don’t know what happened today, you will inevitably not be able to grasp the future, and you will even lose your way.

It’s as if we have always thought that Hong Kong’s elite groups will definitely lead Hong Kong. Hong Kong’s civil servants can govern Hong Kong well, only to find that they are actually "sleeping". The ideology of small government and big market understands the world, and even flaunts American-style freedom and democracy to understand the problems of the world.

The sixth middle school will pave the way for the next hundred years

The leaders in Hong Kong obviously lack the sense of urgency and motivation to "awaken". Is this our misunderstanding in the past, or are there other reasons that make the excellent elite governance team helpless with social issues?

To know the reason, you can only go back to the colonial history and the growth of civil servants. Any rough judgment may be misunderstood.

In the past 100 years, the CCP has never given up its mission of party building.

Even if there were serious mistakes in the process, it was still persevering.

Xi Jinping often quoted Zheng Banqiao’s poem: “Assume that the green mountains do not relax, and the roots are in the broken rock. The hard work is still strong, and the north and the west are winds.” He is emphasizing that the CCP must adhere to its beliefs and solve the people’s problems. One cannot be less difficult.

The CCP is a political organization that adheres to its beliefs. Its roots are the mastery of history. It is not much different from the stories that European and American countries often tell how they got out of feudalism and entered democracy, but the degree and level are different.

Many people in Hong Kong don't understand why political parties need to stick to their beliefs. Don't they think that political parties are political organizations used to consolidate power?

Is the CCP just pretending to be a high-profile?

This kind of speculation does have a basis, because Western political parties have been operating in this way so far, and party rotation is likely to happen with only a short period of political performance.

In fact, political parties are not the main body of American politics. Many people know the names of the presidents of the United States, but few people know which party they belong to.

In contrast, the CCP attaches great importance to its own history and values. Although the status and contributions of individual leaders can be different, they cannot explain the CCP’s overall historical status and political achievements as a political party.

Some people criticize the CCP for putting the tragic history that China has suffered since the Opium War on its lips, and it is using a kind of tragedy to consolidate its power.

This misunderstanding ignores that the Chinese are essentially a nation with a lot of memory.

Memories are not used to continue the mentality of revenge, but to remind everyone not to fall into decline again, and to make everyone work hard to build a collective consciousness.

This is the sense of history.

The CCP is a political organization that adheres to its beliefs. Its roots are the mastery of history. It is not much different from the stories that European and American countries often tell how they got out of feudalism and entered democracy, but the degree and level are different.

In Paris, everyone saw the art of the French Revolution everywhere. The United States often emphasized its own constitution. The British viewed their Magna Carta as the great historical process of mankind, and they all have similar meanings.

It's just that European and American scholars no longer regard the history of the Roman Empire or Greece as their own history, but the Chinese will trace their memories back to the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, or even the Three Emperors and Five Emperors.

The "Historical Resolution" of the Sixth Plenary Session of the Sixth Central Committee continues the historical reflection and hard thinking of the Chinese nation. It can be predicted that this "Historical Resolution" is to unify the understanding of society in the past 100 years of history. On the basis of development, further prepare for how to develop well in the second century.

It is to show that the CCP can indeed take on the important task of solving the difficulties of modern China, lead the society to concentrate on development, take the interests of the people as the basis and starting point for all considerations, and persevere so that the people can live a happy life, the country can rise peacefully, and the nation can be rejuvenated. .

It is foreseeable that the third "Historical Resolution" of the CCP is to unify the understanding of society, and to further prepare for the development of the second century on the basis of the historical development of the past 100 years.

China's development is still on the road

Slogans and forms are of no value. Short-term successes and failures cannot show the whole world, let alone show the future. Historical experience is the best evidence.

Of course, some people may say that China still has not responded to the common people's yearning for the Western development model and their worries about China's authoritarian and centralized model.

However, if there were no such worries, everyone would not have noticed the disputes between China and the West.

China’s development is still on the way. The CCP has not resolved all the doubts about the world or civilization, and of course it cannot resolve everyone’s worries. This is a basic fact.

However, have Western democracies provided clear and effective solutions?

of course not.

To be sure, the various chaos that has occurred in European and American countries in recent years is not only far from what we understood when we were young, it is simply a reversal of right and wrong.

China’s achievements in the past few decades have highlighted the shortcomings of the West’s laissez-faire capitalist governance model. It is said that there will be no harm if there is no comparison. This is also the main background for the conflicts between European and American countries and China today. While developing itself, it unconsciously challenged the Western development model.

Wal-Mart used to be the best-performing retail company in the world, but Amazon's success has challenged it invisibly. Can we say that this is Amazon's fault?

Today's Wal-Mart is catching up with e-commerce, this is the correct attitude.

To slander one's own problems as caused by others is itself another failure of a loser. If European and American countries put themselves in such a position, China has no other choice but to be more careful in its development.

The CCP’s sense of history is actually something that many Western countries should learn from, and Hong Kong is no exception.

When Western countries learn from development experience and lessons, they never carry out systematic reflections, let alone review their own development models openly, thinking that temporary success is permanent success. This is superficial and impossible.

Climate warming is a good example. Can we say that the development of industrial civilization has made no mistakes?

And it was an error that lasted for hundreds of years.

Once you know it, you should actively correct it, but many people in the United States still deny such a serious ecological crisis, which is unbelievable.

This shows that human beings are ultimately still insignificant in the face of nature and history.

Hong Kong has been regarded as a member of the Western world for many years, and it should actively reflect on its past mistakes and face it bravely, just as the CCP is constantly reflecting on its past mistakes, including the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, and making self-criticism.

Only in this way can the people’s difficulties be truly resolved, society can progress, and the country can develop.

The general direction of Hong Kong's transformation from chaos to governance, from governance to prosperity is in front of us. The second half of "one country, two systems" has already begun, and an "age of awakening" is especially needed.

The "Awakening Age" Hong Kong Needs

The development of human society or politics may seem long and complicated, but in the final analysis there is only one simple goal, just like the CCP’s political program: to seek happiness for the Chinese people and to seek rejuvenation for the Chinese nation.

Besides, what else can there be?

Although the story told by "The Awakening Age" took place a hundred years ago, it and today’s "History Resolution" of the Sixth Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China are actually mutual cause and effect. Without that "Awakening Age", there would be no "history" today. Resolution", and the two cross time and space together constitute a nation’s reflection on history.

With this kind of reflection as a new starting point, the Chinese Communist Party is opening the next century of "age of awakening."

Looking at the world, when mankind encounters a rare epidemic in a century, and it is not over, this is a great crisis in the history of human development and a profound cognitive revolution. When the world pauses, it should also be the beginning of our collective reflection.

It is a pity that people still cannot "awaken" from this cognitive revolution, cannot really see the limitations of mankind in nature, and cannot see the more severe climate challenges before us.

For Hong Kong, which has experienced the severe damage of the amendments and the test of the epidemic, the general direction of turning from chaos to governance, from governance to prosperity is in front of us, and the second half of "one country, two systems" has begun. In particular, it cannot continue to sleep in the inherent imagination of the CCP. ——Hong Kong especially needs an "age of awakening."

Can Hong Kong people turn a blind eye to the hundred years of the Chinese Communist Party?
