150 university students from different governorates joined a march in the outskirts of the town of Maaloula in Damascus countryside, with a distance of 9.5 km, which was carried out by the Syrian Association for Exploration and Documentation “I am the Syrian” in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism.
The Taj Maaloula trek started from the town of Jaba`deen, through the rocky cliff, to the town of Maaloula, according to the commander of the field operations in the association, Khaled Noelati, who explained to SANA that the aim of the trek was to discover the nature surrounding the western Qalamoun Mountains region and the basic environmental components that contributed to the emergence of the civilization of this area.
Noelati pointed out that the monitoring and exploration dealt with the mountainous area, the plant and animal environment, the springs, the caves and the torrential cliffs of the place that may in the future be a new site on the tourist map in Damascus countryside serving the Maaloula area, indicating that the association obtained many important documents that talk about the natural formation of the Qalamoun Mountains region. western.
The Syrian Association for Exploration and Documentation was established in Damascus in 2008 with the aim of providing an opportunity for young people to experience nature closely by training them to learn how to adapt to it to extract scientific benefit and historical truth by conducting field exploration activities in nature.
