During the filming of the second season of "Kupa Rashit", the creators Nadav Frishman and Yaniv Zohar received an announcement that the series is nominated for the American Emmy Award: "We Did Not Believe", he admits in a conversation with Nir Yahav on the "What's up?" Podcast, Walla! Culture in collaboration with Mifal Hapayis. "For a while we were looking for who invented this prank and why he does it for us. It was only after we realized it was really happening and that even the Emmy academy loved it, did we realize that the series had become a real cult and began to believe in ourselves."

These days, the third season of "Kupa Rashit" is broadcast here 11 and is one of the most talked about and beloved series in Israel, but the creators remember that like all the beginnings, this one was not easy.

Frishman: "It really did not break out quickly. The first season was broadcast on educational television, and then they closed it and no one wanted the series except Channel 10. But after they took 'Coupe First', they also closed and it's back on the shelf again. In the meantime,Each of us has returned to our daily routine. "

Zohar: "We knew that those who did see it, really liked it. The problem was that not many people had seen it until then, and in general, not too many people knew it went up and was on TV."

When did that change?

Frishman: "We kept offering the series to anyone we could think of and at the end the corporation announced that they would go for it anyway, and produce a second season."

Zohar: "And when the second season came up, it was just when the Corona started and everyone was looking for what to see and found it. From there it had already soared."

"There were moments when it seemed to me that the years would pass and the dream would run away, and music would remain just a hobby."

Let's go back a moment - where did the idea for a series like "First Box Office" come from?

Zohar: "Nadav and I first worked together six years ago. We connected and looked for what could be done, but no one wanted to hire us. We checked different tenders and tried to push series and submit as many things as possible. Suddenly, after a few months we get a phone call and tell us' With the series'. We did not even remember which series it was and when they said it was the series with the writer, we asked 'oh, did they like it?' ".

Frishman: "We wanted to produce something comical and 'Primary' started at all as something else - a series of sketches called 'Superwoman'. The song was initially called Limor and it was based on the character of the principal. "We understood that writing 20 chapters for such a thing would be complicated, so we submitted something else, not exactly what they asked for."

Zohar: "Luckily for us, producer Amit Strotiner recognized that there was something here and put his hand deep in his pocket. He invested about half a million shekels in the first season and kept telling us it was going to turn the country around. Bull hit."

How did the casting process work?

Frishman: "It was part of the magic of the piece. Every time someone new joined, the series changed and accordingly, our confidence went up. At first no one really wanted to come and it would frustrate us, but suddenly Karen Moore saw it and started complimenting the scripts as if it was something of a quintet. It changed the whole attitude. "

Zohar: "For example, I did not want Amir Shorosh at first. She is another candidate for us at the audition, who did an amazing job and Amir then brought something different from the role he does now. Today I eat the hat, to my delight"

Frishman: "After filming the first season we said Amir mentions "Asi Cohen in his abilities. He knows how to do special things."

And his character, Ramsey,Also shows another Arab character on TV

Frishman: "The writer is like that. He invites the Arab, the Russian and others to it. It's a very clichéd place. We did not want to write satire, but we decided to touch on that too, because in the end Ramsey is a person, someone you connect with personally."

What about Noa Koller, how did she join?

Frishman: "I have known Noa for about 12 years, since I did a project that was on the Beep channel with a group of young comedians. She was the first to be accepted then, and we worked together for half a year. Even then they saw that she was a rare talent.

Zohar: "It was a sweeping agreement. My wife and I have been in love with her character since 'Irreversible.'"

Where did the inspiration for the various characters come from?

Frishman: "We really liked the '30 Rock 'series, so from there we got inspired by the character of Shira, who is reminiscent of Tina Fey and Ramsey, who all falls for him like the innocent Kenneth. As for star, we thought a lot about Cartman from South Park and what he was like. "They are kind of cousins, they always think they are right and they have no boundaries."

Zohar: "We went around a lot of different writers as part of the research, we would spend a whole day there. For example, we heard about a professor from Tel Aviv University who arrives every morning at 8:00, after visiting the other two writers in the neighborhood and photographing prices there and now he wants discounts. "This is where the character of Dov Navon was born. We thought of him as George Costanza, if he had not met Jerry."

Following the success there were also a lot of players who said they did not want to participate at first and now regret it.

Do you feel a sense of victory?

Frishman: "Absolutely. There's a sense of victory. Not a joy for Eid, but a good feeling. We must admit we did not come to them at first with an overly promising offer. We talked about a series that takes place in the writer and will be broadcast educationally."

They are currently busy with an advertisement for Bezeq and a children's program and only then will the moment come to write Season 4 of the main box office (Photo: Reuven Castro)

The series is also very popular with children.

How did it happen?

Zohar: "We admit we didn't watch it, but you can understand their identification. Ramsey for example, is like a kid, kind of a SpongeBob, so it's hard not to like him."

Frishman: "And the writer is a very accessible place. Children do not shop, but they know the writer's experience, with the colors and smells. The Moore Foundation, who has done everything to this day, told us that she has never done anything for children, Not really something like that, but suddenly they attack her and ask for selfies. "

Zohar: "When they sent me a picture of a girl disguised as a star last Purim - I realized that something special and unusual was happening."

What and who makes you funny?

Frishman: "When creating a comedy, first of all it's important to work with someone who makes you funny."

Zohar: "We do not laugh easily, so every time we have to impress each other and think of something new. Nadav has a 'wicked' and sarcastic humor from me. I would say I'm more of a 'friends' man and he's more of Seinfeld, and we really like South "Park and bring it. So everything fits together."

Frishman: "In Israel, Shahar Hasson kills me with laughter. He is a super comedian."

Zohar: "He has all the tools to make you laugh and each time he pulls out something different. I must also mention Uri Hezekiah, who was involved in his show in the past and grew up in the industry on his knees."

What will be in season 4 of "Headline"?

Frishman: "All we know right now is 20 episodes. We are now finishing writing the third season of our children's series, 'Alone at Home' and for the past month have been very busy filming a new Bezeq commercial with Gidi Gov and all the stars of 'Coupe First'.We have a lot of ideas for season 4 and we keep them aside until we get to that. "

Finally, who is your favorite character?

Zohar: "We are sick of Mrs. Disgust. Now she also has a boyfriend, Mr. Shame and Disgrace. So we'll see where that develops."
