On September 20, at the Elysee Palace, Emmanuel Macron made a strong commitment that instilled unprecedented hope: to recognize and repair the tragedy of the harkis, whose unworthy fate taints the white of our national flag with a blood-red trace.
Unfortunately, two months after this request for forgiveness made to the harkis by the President of the Republic, the bill of recognition and reparation, presented to the Assembly on November 18, is disappointing with its reluctance.
Above all, it sabotages the historic significance of presidential pardon.
Written without consultation with the harkis and their descendants, the text marks a clear step back from the speech of September 20.

Of course, this bill includes progress: it recognizes the responsibility of the State in the abandonment of the harkis in 1962, mentioned in the presidential speeches of Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande, but never engraved.
