The service complex was inaugurated today in the village of Jdeidet al-Bahr in Tartous countryside, which includes the headquarters of the Jdeidet al-Bahr municipality, the health center and the cultural center.


Engineer Musa Ahmed, mayor of Jdeidet al-Bahr, said in a statement to reporters that the building, whose cost exceeded 100 million Syrian pounds, was established by the civil society in the village as an expression of their belonging to their community. It is offered by the new municipality headquarters to the people as well as the cultural center.


In turn, Dr. Shehadeh Ahmed, director of the health center, stressed the importance of this community initiative, as the health center serves about 4,000 people and includes several ambulatory, dental, women's and internal clinics, in addition to the pharmacy and laboratory.


The Mashta Al-Helou School for Basic Education “Circle One” was also opened, where the Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Safita, Demetrius Sharbak, drew in a press statement the importance of this educational edifice to spread knowledge and contribute to the reconstruction and construction of Syria.


In turn, Archimandrite Marwan Al-Hilu, who supervises the construction of the school, explained that the area needs new schools to accommodate the students and ease their suffering by moving to the neighboring areas for information. In which 80 students receive the teaching program of the Ministry of Education, in addition to the enrichment program based on teaching the curriculum in English and French.


The school director, Thanaa Surouj, explained that the school was built with the funding of her children from the local community, expatriates and residents, at a cost of nearly 2 billion Syrian pounds. Its area is 700 square meters.


The opening was attended by the governor of Tartous, lawyer Safwan Abu Saadi, the secretary of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party branch, Muhammad Habib Hussein, and an official and popular crowd from the people of those villages.
