While pulling out of a parking space, an 84-year-old driver lost control of his car and injured several people.
A 60-year-old is critically injured.
Weißenburg - On Monday (November 15th) there was a serious traffic accident in the Weißenburg city center (Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district *).
As the police headquarters in Middle Franconia say, a woman was critically injured.
An 84-year-old had apparently lost control of his vehicle when pulling out of a parking space.
At around 3:20 p.m., the police received a serious traffic accident on Luitpoldstrasse via the emergency call.
What happened?
The 84-year-old man had backed up his car from a parking bay and obviously lost control of his vehicle.
He drove uncontrollably onto the opposite sidewalk where four people were standing.
The car hit the people, causing a 60-year-old woman to suffer life-threatening injuries.
The other three people (57, 65, 70) were slightly or moderately injured.
But the car did not stop, but continued to reverse uncontrollably, crashing into a parked car, among other things, and ultimately lying on a metal parking barrier post.
Accident in Bavaria: Expert should bring clarity
The seriously injured woman was flown to a hospital by rescue helicopter.
The moderately or slightly injured people, as well as the shocked driver of the accident vehicle, were taken care of on site by the ambulance service and then also brought to hospitals.
How the accident came about and what exactly happened should now be clarified by an expert.
The area around the accident site was cordoned off over a large area.
