The world's largest automotive supplier currently employs a total of 250 people at its location in the east of Munich. They manufacture electric fuel pumps and injection valves. Recently, however, the demand for the components has come under great pressure due to the global change from combustion to electric propulsion. In the past three years alone, the order volume for gasoline pumps has "almost halved," said Luntz on Monday. This trend will continue in the medium term. In the course of the planned realignment of the site *, three different scenarios have already been calculated.
In addition to a complete relocation of the production and assembly of the fuel pumps to the Bosch plant in Campinas, Brazil, a relocation of the pump production to Nuremberg and Budweis is "economically feasible," explained Luntz.
In both scenarios, the injection valves are to be built and assembled in the Bosch plant in Hallein, Austria.
The remaining of the pump and valve production in Munich "as an extended workbench for Nuremberg", which has also been examined, is "uneconomical," said Luntz.

After a possible end of production, the location could be converted into a research and innovation center.
For example, software developers or sensor specialists could be brought together in Trudering in the future.
A sale of the plant on Truderinger Strasse is currently not planned, Luntz assured.
There would have already been numerous inquiries from potential interested parties.
For Bosch, however, selling the location is “currently not an issue”.
With a view to the further procedure, Luntz also assured the employees that they would be treated fairly.
“We don't leave our employees out in the rain”.
