Bosch is planning deep cuts in its Munich plant.

The works council and IG Metall vehemently reject the plans and have presented their own concept.

Now it's time to get down to business in the conflict.

Munich - In the struggle for the future of the Bosch plant in Munich *, the company is hoping for a quick solution: “All the cards are on the table.

I hope that we can find a solution before Christmas, ”said plant manager Jörg Luntz to

.

First, however, they want to wait for the talks with the works council, IG Metall and the union-related information institute.

They are scheduled for Thursday (November 18th).

Then they want to discuss various scenario calculations of the company as well as the alternative plans of the works council together with the plant management and the management of the Powertrain division.

Bosch plant in Munich: "Order volume halved"

The world's largest automotive supplier currently employs a total of 250 people at its location in the east of Munich. They manufacture electric fuel pumps and injection valves. Recently, however, the demand for the components has come under great pressure due to the global change from combustion to electric propulsion. In the past three years alone, the order volume for gasoline pumps has "almost halved," said Luntz on Monday. This trend will continue in the medium term. Bosch is already making "considerable losses" at its Munich plant. You have to react to that, said the Bosch manager.

In the course of the planned realignment of the site *, three different scenarios have already been calculated.

In addition to a complete relocation of the production and assembly of the fuel pumps to the Bosch plant in Campinas, Brazil, a relocation of the pump production to Nuremberg and Budweis is "economically feasible," explained Luntz.

In both scenarios, the injection valves are to be built and assembled in the Bosch plant in Hallein, Austria.

The remaining of the pump and valve production in Munich "as an extended workbench for Nuremberg", which has also been examined, is "uneconomical," said Luntz.

Bosch plant in Munich: Far-reaching plans

After a possible end of production, the location could be converted into a research and innovation center.

For example, software developers or sensor specialists could be brought together in Trudering in the future.

A sale of the plant on Truderinger Strasse is currently not planned, Luntz assured.

There would have already been numerous inquiries from potential interested parties.

For Bosch, however, selling the location is “currently not an issue”.

With a view to the further procedure, Luntz also assured the employees that they would be treated fairly.

“We don't leave our employees out in the rain”.

One strives for a "fair and socially acceptable solution".

Bosch plant in Munich: Works council and IG Metall are storming against renovation plans

The works council and IG Metall, however, vehemently reject the renovation plans for Munich and have presented the company with their own concept *.

One can also “manufacture future products or provide innovative services,” said the works council head of the Munich plant, Guiseppe Ciccone.

At least 200 jobs are to be saved in this way.

In order to emphasize their plans, the employee representatives have already announced fierce opposition.

On Friday, the works council and IG Metall invited to a solidarity day in Munich - and are determined to fight for their jobs.

"If necessary," said works council chief Ciccone in the run-up to the demo, "we can chain ourselves to the machines."
