Members of the Bund Naturschutz Poing visited some of the flowering and compensation areas of the community on a bike tour.

Including a bee pasture and a meadow.

Poing - The 8,790 square meter orchard meadow (for comparison: a soccer field is around 7,000 square meters) in extension of the Pfarrhofweg in Poing-Süd, where citizens can pick apples free of charge, a bee pasture with 5,470 square meters in Angelbrechting and the meadow east of Gelting with almost 2.7 hectares: These were three of several goals of a bike tour that the local group of the Bund Naturschutz (BN) Poing undertook.

Accompanied by Christian Friedrich from the construction depot, who explained this and other flowering and compensation areas in the municipality of Poing to the participants.

As Monika Stübich-Fritsch from the BN Poing informs, the soil of the meadow has been emaciated so that many wildflowers can grow.

There are also different trees and bushes there.

"Since the meadow is in a quieter area, partridges, deer and birds of prey also feel safe here," writes Stübich-Fritsch in the report on the bike tour.

This also led to the so-called Lerchenwiese, which borders the Lerchenwinkel development area to the north.

It was deliberately designed without any bushes or trees and with hollows for ground nesters.

A meadow orchard was recently created on Bergfeldstrasse, right on a 90-degree bend.

The BN local group visited this area together with the building yard employee.

At the individual stations, Christian Friedrich described the nature of the different areas that are processed with smaller machines and only mowed once or twice a year.

Further compensation areas in the municipality of Poing are located on the Weidachweg in Pliening (in the direction of the reservoir), on the reservoir itself, and in Gelting and Glonn.

Poing: Bund Naturschutz plants 20,000 flower bulbs

“In order to be able to protect the Poingen compensation and flowering areas, it is important for us as the BN local group to know which compensation and extensively managed flowering areas the community has and where they are”, writes Monika Stübich-Fritsch.

The members visited some of the areas on the bike tour.

Also those on Wildparkstraße, which have been upgraded with dead wood trunks and piled stones.

The local group recently made a contribution to more flowering areas: on two Saturdays, members and citizens planted almost 20,000 flower bulbs on green strips along the Gruber, Plieninger and Seerosenstrasse.
