Christmas markets in and around Schongau canceled due to current corona incidence figures

Traditionally, the markets in Peiting and Herzogsägmühle take place at the same time, so this year it was agreed that a possible cancellation should also be made together, said Mayor Peter Ostenrieder on Monday. "Due to the current development of the incidence figures, also here on site, in our eyes such a Christmas market, which lives from people being together, cannot be represented on site", so the reasoning. Some of the providers of the Peitinger Christmas market had already announced in advance that they would not be there this year. "Personally, I was really looking forward to being able to experience Rathausplatz with the Christmas market again this year, but it would be irresponsible at the moment in view of the development of Corona," said the head of the community."We could either not control the specifications at all, or only with immense effort," said Herzogsägmühle managing director Wilfried Knorr, explaining the rejection, which he greatly regrets.

The decision to cancel was also made in Schongau and Hohenpeißenberg.

The Hohenpeißenberg Christmas market should have taken place in the Rigi community on November 27th.

In Schongau, the organizer Hermann Gleich had stuck to the implementation for a long time.

But here, too, the decision was made on Monday in consultation with the city that the Christmas market cannot be held this year due to the high incidence.
