District - The issue that there is hardly any available and above all affordable housing in our district is well known. Nevertheless, many people now listen when it comes to this unreasonable circumstance. Probably also because it is accompanied by a feeling of powerlessness, which the local Social Service of Catholic Women eV (SkF) cannot accept. Because too many clients: suffer inside - and face a winter that threatens their existence.
The need for living space is enormous and the employees from the SkF department for homeless assistance experience the daily hardship up close and with very different fates. People from all walks of life are affected, but especially single parents and the elderly. In addition, there is an increasing number of people with acute mental illnesses. And this situation is getting worse. Because in addition to the people who have been looking for new living space for months and years, there are currently many pandemic-related “personal use dismissals”.
Evictions that have been delayed by the corona pandemic are currently being made up for and rental protection periods that were given by the pandemic have expired. In addition, all of the emergency accommodations rented by the SkF are currently occupied. With the result that already three registered homeless families from our district are urgently waiting to be taken into an emergency shelter at all. Accordingly, the SkF would like to rent suitable living space to keep these people from becoming homeless.
However, this is currently not possible because there is hardly any cheap living space to rent or the offers are not within the current rent ceiling of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district office.
Because only if this is the case can the SkF also pass on affordable rental prices to the client.
A dilemma.
That prevents the SkF from fulfilling a joint responsibility with the municipalities - namely to protect affected people from homelessness and homelessness.
This situation puts a strain on the SkF social workers and the clients alike.
There is therefore an urgent need for cheap apartments to rent, ideally also handicapped accessible or barrier-free.
More than ever.
Apartment owners with an available rental offer are requested to contact the local SkF directly for further information: Specialist Office for Avoiding and Eliminating Homelessness (FOL) Social Service Cath.
