 Ecomafia knows no lockdown: in 2020, the year of the Covid-19 pandemic, 34,867 environmental crimes were ascertained in Italy (+ 0.6% compared to 2019), with an average of over 95 crimes per day, 4 each Now.

This was denounced by the new Ecomafia 2021 report, produced by Legambiente.

The total number of checks dropped from 1,694,093 to 1,415,907 (-17% compared to 2019). With 5,457 ascertained crimes of environmental illegality in 2020, at the rate of 15 crimes per day, albeit with a very slight decrease in offenses (92 less than in 2019), but an increase in the number of people reported (654, ​​equal to 15.5%) in addition), of arrests, more than doubled (50 against 24 in 2019) and of kidnappings (131 more in 2020), Campania is confirmed as the ecomafia region at national level. The health emergency did not stop forest fires: 4,233, + 8.1% compared to 2019. Crimes against animals every hour - 8,193 on 23,5% of the total environmental ones - with 6,792 people reported, over 18 a day, 5,327 kidnappings and 33 arrests.
