FEZ in Unterhaching: The duck is happy again

The somewhat outdated FEZ is now being spiced up under the direction of architect Jörg Gärtner.

The neo-local councils Claudia Töpfer and Emil Salzeder asked what was going on in the FEZ - especially with regard to the duck.

“Actually, we just wanted to take a close look at the inner values ​​of the duckling with our experts.

To do this, we carefully lifted it and we were horrified, ”reports Jörg Gärtner.

“The inner workings of the duck, which weighs around a ton, were completely dilapidated.

Water penetrated, the frost took care of the rest. "

Elaborate spicing up

The duck has been restored in Stuttgart, and it will decorate the inner courtyard of the FEZ again by the end of November / beginning of December.

A steel plate has already been installed there in the “duck square”, the round basin: “The duck will soon sit on this again and turn when small or large children push it,” promises the architect.

Beyond the work of art by Wolfgang Flatz, who helped the restorers unbureaucratically with the original duck documents from 1995, further innovations are planned.

The colorful gate that belongs to the duck is also being properly prepared.

Back then, he deliberately wanted to put a splash of color in the somewhat gray Fasanenpark, ”says Jörg Görtner.

In general, the FEZ should "again become a place where citizens can meet".

So some interesting suggestions from the survey by the Neo faction were taken up: "We are installing nicer seats and more attractive planting instead of the sick trees."

Meanwhile, the operators of the new “Aroma & Kraut” café also have fragrant plans: shrubs and seasonal herbs should please the eyes and noses of the FEZ visitors.
