Zolling has also spoken out in favor of GigaNetz taking over the fiber optic expansion.

Now Haag and Wolfersdorf have to say “Yes”.

Zolling

- "The company handles everything itself." With this argument (and with others) Zolling's mayor Helmut Priller has advertised in the local council to accept the offer of the Deutsche GigaNetz GmbH to supply the area of the Zolling administrative association with a gigabit-capable fiber optic infrastructure.

After the project and the plan were presented in October and after Attenkirchen, the first of the four VG member communities to agree to a cooperation agreement with GigaNetz last week, the Zollingen municipal council has now also given its positive vote - unanimously.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Priller once again explained the basics of what GigaNetz offers and what the advantages of this type of fiber optic supply would be: If 40 percent of VG households agree to sign a two-year contract with GigaNetz, GigaNetz will be begin to lay their lines up to every house - with the contract partners also into the house. Above all: In contrast to what would be the case with a support program for the expansion of fiber optics, which is likely to start soon, GigaNetz would assume all the costs. With a funding rate of 90 percent for the eligible costs and an estimated contract value of seven million euros for the Zollingen municipality alone, the other variant would leave around 700,000 euros on the municipality, Priller calculated. In addition, the GigaNetz would start laying in the coming year, while the laying of the fiber optic cables as part of a funding program is likely to last until 2025.

Local councils also asked for approval

With his statements, Priller ran open doors at the municipal councils: Karl Toth (UBZ) emphasized that the offer sounds good, there are no disadvantages.

Manfred Sellmaier (CSU) also asked to agree - also because of the time factor.

The municipal council gave the green light to the conclusion of a cooperation agreement between the municipality and GigaNetz GmbH, whereby a few things still need to be specified and incorporated into the draft, according to Priller.

In order for GigaNetz to go on the advertising offensive, the approval of the Wolfersdorf and Haag municipal councils is still required.

Because only if all four VG municipalities take part will the company's own expansion work.
