Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh condemned the blatant US interference in the internal affairs of independent countries, including Cuba, and called for an immediate end to the unilateral economic and financial sanctions imposed by Washington on Cuba.
In a statement today, Khatibzadeh stressed that “the failure of the American plan to provoke riots in Cuba is evidence of the cohesion of the Cuban people and government,” noting that the American sanctions imposed on this country are mainly aimed at creating a state of resentment and turmoil among the people and taking actions against his government, which was not succeed.
Khatibzadeh added that "this American intervention represents a clear violation of international law," stressing Iran's solidarity with Cuba in the face of the illegal economic and financial sanctions that have been going on for more than six decades.
