The district of Miesbach is currently making headlines nationwide with its high incidence.

This also unsettles vacationers.

The landlords fear cancellations.

Tegernseer Tal

- With its record incidence, the Miesbach district has dominated the headlines - some of them nationwide - for weeks.

That creates uncertainty.

Even with those who have planned their vacation in the Tegernsee Valley.

According to tourism boss Christian Kausch, there can be no talk of a wave of cancellations at the moment.

But there are definitely guests "who are irritated and have concerns about leaving now".

Anastasia Stadler, who runs the Webermohof guest house in Rottach-Egern in Rottach-Egern, also says: "The high numbers are of course bad advertising for our region." The booking behavior of guests is currently rather cautious.

Landlady from Rottach-Egern: "2G does not bring the big wave of cancellations"

Since Monday (November 15), the 2G rule has also applied to restaurants and hotels in the district.

In other words: Only those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered are allowed to check-in.

For the landlord Stadler this is only the "topping" on an already extremely tense situation.

"Our guests are 99 percent vaccinated anyway," reports the Rottacherin.

In their eyes, the high incidences and the lack of Advent markets - which, in Stadler's view, were completely rightly canceled - weigh more heavily.

“2G doesn't bring the big wave of cancellations,” says the hostess, who is also on the Rottach town council.

Uncertainty among vacationers, especially due to the high corona numbers

Daniel Strillinger sees it similarly. Together with his wife, he not only runs the Steinbrecherhof in Bad Wiessee, but is also chairman of the local health and tourist association. At the moment the family - like so many other hosts in the dreary month of November - is on company holiday. Strillinger is expecting one or the other cancellation of his guests. “You can hear about it all around you,” reports Strillinger. The outcry among his colleagues because of missing guests - especially in the catering sector - can be clearly heard. Strillinger also primarily blames people's insecurity on the particularly delicate corona situation in the district. "There are always guests who call and ask why the numbers are so high here." The landlord is convinced:Holidays at Tegernsee and in the Miesbach district do not represent an increased risk, if only because of the strict requirements in the hosting industry. "And with 2G it is even safer." and accommodating, ”explains Strillinger.

TTT recommends fair handling of cancellations

This is entirely in the spirit of Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT). "We ask the hosts that cancellations are handled in an accommodating manner", confirms TTT managing director Kausch. But he also knows that the issue of cancellations has become a "very stressful topic" for many hosts. Often the landlord does not know in the morning whether his room is full in the evening or not: "Many bookings now come spontaneously, many cancellations too," reports Kausch. In principle, the host must assess each individual case himself. Because the tourism boss also makes it clear: “A high incidence alone does not justify cancellation.” After all, the guest concludes a contract when booking, the cancellation conditions are clearly regulated in the general terms and conditions. Kausch is convinced:"If both parties talk to each other properly, they will find a solution."

Tourism boss: October figures were "a dream"

Kausch is currently unable to estimate whether the number of guests at Tegernsee will actually collapse due to the acute corona situation.

“We won't see that until December.” In any case, at the beginning of November the booking situation was still “extremely good”.

Kausch even describes the October figures as a “dream”.

In the meantime, Stadler is convinced that the worsening corona situation will not leave its industry untouched.

Nevertheless, the recipe for the Rottach landlady is: "Keep calm!"
