Abstract.

On Tuesday, October 5, 2021, the Independent Commission on Sexual Abuse in the Church (Ciase), chaired by former senior official Jean-Marc Sauvé, delivered its report.

Its conclusions are edifying: more than 200,000 people claim to have been victims of sexual violence within the Church when they were children.

Priests, men and women religious who took advantage of their status to impose touching and commit attacks and rapes on children in their care.

The work of the commission lasted more than 2 years.

Today, the Sauvé report suggests avenues for the Church, to repair the victims, by setting up a compensation fund, but also to reform its operation.
