Russian aid to families of martyrs and missing breadwinners and educational supplies for students

A Russian delegation from the Russian Humanitarian Mission Foundation and the Federation of Machinery Producers in the Russian Federation provided in-kind assistance to a number of martyrs' families and families without breadwinners, at the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus on the sidelines of the joint Syrian-Russian meeting to follow up on the work of the international conference on the return of refugees in Damascus.

The aid, which was distributed in coordination with a non-governmental organization, included food baskets, winter clothes and school bags for about 82 families, according to the Director of the Russian Cultural Center, Counselor Dr. Nikolai Sokhov, stressing that Russia supports efforts to return the displaced Syrians to their original cities and villages.

For his part, Maher Hamo Laila, coordinator of a civil society organization in Rukn al-Din, indicated the preparation of a study on families that need support from the residents of the Trade District to distribute aid to them today, noting that work is continuing in coordination with the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus to reach the largest number of these families and support them in the field of Establishing small projects and other needs.

In turn, Director of the Union of Machinery Producers in Russia Natalia Buga pointed out that the aim of providing assistance in its various forms is to strengthen the relationship between the Syrian and Russian peoples.

In a related context, a Russian delegation today presented educational books in the Russian language, laptops, school bags and stationery to a number of “Nabil Younes” secondary school students in the Rukn Al-Din area, and a number of students from the “Fariez Malik” school in Al-Qusour area in Damascus.

In a statement to Sana Bayn, Director of Damascus Education Suleiman Younes, that gifts were distributed to students studying the Russian language, while Abeer Younes, director of Nabil Younes High School, explained that gifts were given to more than 40 high school students.

From the Russian delegation, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations of Moscow City, Tkach Igor Polikarpovich, indicated that the gifts presented contribute to introducing students in Syria to Russian literature and culture, supporting school libraries with books, stationery and appropriate computers, and confirming the depth of the relationship between the two countries.
