Syria and the Russian Federation signed today a memorandum of understanding to provide humanitarian aid at the end of the opening session of the joint meeting of the Syrian and Russian coordination ministerial bodies on the return of displaced Syrians at the Conferences Palace in Damascus.
The memorandum was signed on the Syrian side by the Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Eng. Hussein Makhlouf, and on the Russian side, the Deputy Director of the Presidency of the Russian Federation Lakina Olga Yuryevna.
In his speech after the signing, Minister Makhlouf stressed the depth of Syrian-Russian relations based on values, mutual respect and cooperation in various political, military, economic and cultural fields.
Minister Makhlouf pointed to the strengthening of cooperation with Russia in the reconstruction, expressing his thanks to the leadership and people of the Russian Federation for the positions supportive of Syria, especially Russian President Vladimir Putin for his positions in support of the rightful causes of Syria.
Head of the Russian-Syrian Coordination Center for the Return of Refugees Mikhail Miznitsev said that the work of the Syrian and Russian coordinating bodies has confirmed its effectiveness and enjoys the support of the leaderships of the two countries, indicating that his country is doing its best to make Syria prosper again and is working to help in all fields to improve the living situation of the Syrian people.
Following the signing of the memorandum, a singing performance was held in the Russian language, presented by school students studying Russian as a second language, which included artistic performances, dances and songs in both Arabic and Russian.
