The berries in western France are doing well.
After the Gulf of Morbihan, the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel and that of Pouliguen, the Baie des Sables d'Olonne has entered the classification of the Club of the most beautiful bays in the World, an association based in Vannes, in Morbihan, and created in 1997 by three fanatic friends of these indentations sheltering natural harbors.
After submitting an application in 2020 and the visit of two official representatives of the association last October, the Baie des Sables d'Olonne finally saw its application for integration accepted on November 12, as an “exceptional coastal bay. ".

Preservation of berry identity
The association, which has set itself the objective of promoting and protecting its "member" berries, now has 45 berries in 27 countries.
And France is well represented there, since eight tricolor bays are listed there, including that of La Ciotat in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur or the Gulf of Porto in Corsica.
On the Sables d'Olonne side, the 25 kilometers of coastline and its fine sandy beaches convinced the jury, which intends by its approach to safeguard the cultural heritage and the identity of the bays in the classification.
The bay of Sables d'Olonne therefore joins a very closed circle, a label that allows the city of 45,000 inhabitants to promote its coast a little more, and to assert its commitments in terms of environmental protection to tourists.
