Bichl

- The veterans and warriors' association Bichl recently celebrated its anniversary with very good participation from its members.

The strong popularity was certainly not due to the fact that after last year's failure they looked back on two club years.

Mayor Benedikt Pössenbacher saw the good social life in the village as a driving force.

The festive day began with a memorial service and the laying of a wreath at the war memorial before Sepp Reichlin opened the general meeting in the hall of the “Bavarian Lion”.

"There were almost no appointments in which we participated," said the chairman, looking back on the past few months.

The renewal of the names on the war memorial and the new flagpoles acquired at the same time were gratifying for Reichlin.

Treasurer Markus Demmel ended his balance sheet for the past two years with a gain.

Even if it was “only” about 23.40 euros, Sepp Schmid was furious about the bank's account management fee: “I find it absolutely unfair to ask an association for money.” It was Schmid, too, whose suggestion two years earlier to increase the annual fee to 10 euros, was supported by a majority.

Reichlin: "That was very well received and, as we heard, was very good for our cash register."

There was absolute silence among the audience when Michael Schmid spoke.

The Bundeswehr major from Bichl reported on his missions abroad in Mali, the foreseeable takeover of power by the Taliban in Afghanistan and the Bundeswehr as an "indispensable equalizer in our society".

New elections for the board of directors followed.

The management team around Sepp Reichlin, which has been set for a further three years, will take care of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the association in the coming year.

A fair on the village square with a torchlight procession to the war memorial and a subsequent festive evening in the “Bavarian Lion” are planned for October 2022.

Mayor Pössenbacher: “I'm looking forward to the festival.

The veterans are the oldest club in the municipality of Bichl. ”Of course, the Bichl music band will also be there, which helped to shape the anniversary in a dignified and entertaining way.
