AI21 Labs, the startup of Amnon Shashua, the founder of Mobilai, launches Wordtune Read, a tool that is based on artificial intelligence

The Israeli startup, AI21 Labs, is today launching a technological tool that is changing the way we read.

The new tool, Wordtune Read, is based on models of language analysis and is intended for people in different professions who are constantly dealing with a huge amount of written information.

Wordtune Read analyzes and summarizes documents in a matter of seconds, enabling users to read long and complex text more efficiently and on average 75% faster, according to the development team.

A study conducted in the UK shows that employees and students spend about 56 minutes a day reading for work-related purposes, including articles and reports.

37% admitted that they suffer from information overload - a phenomenon called "reading fatigue" and research shows that 10 percent of people suffer from this phenomenon and do not enjoy reading as a result.

The new development is supposed to address this point by summarizing the key information from the document quickly, concisely and accurately, thus improving the reader's productivity.

According to developers, the new tool saves professionals and students about 42 minutes a day.

"The knowledge that can be gained from reading is powerful, but most of us do not have time to consume all the information we need," said

Yoav Shoham, co-founder and CEO of AI21

. The method through innovation. "

How does it work

?

Professionals, researchers, and students upload lengthy documents, such as academic research and articles to a PDF file, or copy and paste a link of the text they want to read into the new tool.

Within seconds, short passages appear next to the text that identify and summarize the main topics of the document and help users quickly decipher a complex language so that they can focus on the important parts.

In addition, the Spotlight feature developed by the company, can re-summarize the text from different points of view, while emphasizing the information that the user is most interested in.

Currently, the tool is available for work in English and available to the general public as a Web application.

"For us, this tool is intended to be a real companion to the thought process," Yoav Shoham continued.

"Unlike other reading aids that pull out key sentences, we built a tool that can summarize text - an ability that is much more complex than rewording a sentence because it requires a deeper understanding of a broader context. This way the tool can help people shorten a long story quickly and accurately."
