The two leaders pledged to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and to work for the removal of US sanctions on Tehran • Raisi: "" Iran is very serious ahead of the talks in Vienna

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart, Ibrahim Raisi, spoke by telephone today (Tuesday) with the resumption of nuclear talks in Vienna, which will begin on the 29th of the month.

Tehran insists on "lifting sanctions" and Moscow expects "the will of the parties to get out of the current situation," according to a conversation between the two leaders.

An official statement issued by the Kremlin said that "Russia and Iran are fully committed to the framework of the agreements initially reached," referring to the original 2015 agreement.

In this context, Raisi added that "Iran is very serious ahead of the talks in Vienna on the removal of all sanctions against the Iranian nation."

Cooperation with the Corona plague and the situation in Syria, where "thanks to well-coordinated Russian-Iranian efforts, the country could have been preserved and a large incubator of international terrorism eliminated," were some of the issues discussed by the parties.

At the same time, Putin and Raisi have pledged to advance efforts toward a bilateral agreement for multi-year cooperation between the two countries.

As mentioned, this comes against the background of increasing diplomatic pressure between the Islamic Republic and the West, before talks begin in the Austrian capital.

Last night, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister and director of the regime's negotiating team, Ali Bakri Kani, had a virtual conversation with his Russian and Chinese counterparts, where he reiterated the central point of the Iranian strategy: the removal of US sanctions on the country.

"China, Russia and Iran will continue to strengthen coordination and cooperation to ensure that talks on renewing the agreement are on the right track, and will strive for positive results as soon as possible," the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement issued after the summit.
