Foreign Ministry officials said last night that no date had yet been set for the consular visit of Israeli diplomats to the two Israelis.

"We are pushing for the visit to take place as early as possible," Foreign Ministry officials said.

"The consular visit is a step in the right direction but there is no room for euphoria. The goal is to bring the couple home."

Yesterday, Foreign Minister Yair Lapid held a situation assessment with the participation of all the political, security and legal bodies involved in the affair.

In Jerusalem tonight, they are expressing the most cautious optimism about the improvement in the dialogue with the Turkish authorities.

Simultaneously with the departure of the head of the consular division at the Foreign Ministry to Istanbul, Sima Duvdevani, director of the Israelis' department abroad at the Foreign Ministry, met yesterday with the family of the Israelis detained in Modi'in and updated them on their release efforts.

"The court will decide their case."

The couple's Israeli lawyer, Nir Jaslovitch, visited the Oknin rebels in prison, and is later expected to meet with his wife Natalie.

Oknin is being held at the Latpa prison located about 20 km from the center of Istanbul, a huge detention complex on the Asian side of Turkey. The two are being held in two different wings of the compound.

The couple were arrested last week after filming Erdogan's residence. 20 days, according to reports on suspicion of "political or military espionage." Bennett, Lapid and President Yitzhak Herzog clarified that the couple has no connection to any state agency.
