Despite - or perhaps because of - Corona, the "Hibatzld" artists are currently holding their autumn exhibition in the cattle stables of Gut Kaltenbrunn.

Gmund - Until a week ago, the organizers of the Hibatzld exhibition series, Christine Otsver, Eckard Rocholl and Klaus-Peter Frank were not sure whether they should actually have their second art show in the cattle stables.

But - and they made it clear at the exhibition opening on Friday evening in the presence of the artists and sponsors - "Hibatzld" is in itself and in terms of its genesis a format with which artists stand against corona-related isolation.

“We want to prove that we are not a flash in the pan,” explained Eckard Rocholl, referring to the premiere last year and the summer edition “Higstäid” that has been carried out in the meantime.

It is now up to November 28th to let “art wash the dust off your soul”.

The 2G regulation and FFP2 mask requirement apply.

Christine Otsver thanked the 32 exhibiting artists for their courage.

Twelve artists are new.

Five had canceled at short notice, one accepted spontaneously.

With the Picasso quote "The purpose of art is to wash the dust out of the daily life of our souls", Otsver made it clear how important the art exhibition is, especially in these times: "Corona has accumulated a lot of dust."

Traveling giraffe sculpture "Pippina, the short one", paintings and glass works on display

As in the previous year, the artists themselves decided what to show and how they would like to place it on the more or less transparent construction fence partitions.

Unlike recently, the pandemic is not so prominently represented as a topic.

All in all, the artists have become larger in size and have worked more expressively.

This is especially true for Klaus-Peter Frank and his huge paintings, in which he combines mythological themes and street art. Smaller but no less exciting is Brigitte Appelt's "Sun Series", in which she exposes a yellow point of hope to the most varied, challenging and even hostile life situations. Depending on the situation, the three-dimensional images that are created using colorful mixed techniques are called “impaled”, “quartered”, “held in”, “hung up”, “twisted”, “jammed”, “hidden”, “interwoven”, “embedded” "And" Spit out ".

Susanne Stubner's glass works are expressive and combative.

The artist has also brought the giraffe sculpture "Pippina, the short one", which has been traveling through museums in Europe for four years: colorful, pierced, with kinky overknee boots, bulging lips and a unicorn, she is a "picture of femininity".

Instead of using paint, Stubner “paints” with tiny, sharp glass stones and gives her work sharpness.

Great diversity is praised in the laudation

The dragon illustrations and magical forest photographs by Magdalena Wolf are downright fairytale-like, and would look great as affordable prints in any child's room. She is one of the new artists that “Hibatzeld” has discovered for herself. This is also the case with Herb Schwarz from Siegen, who otherwise regularly goes on holiday in the Tegernsee Valley, as evidenced by his cubist, crystalline views of the mountains (“Alpenglüh”) and the Malerwinkel (“Tegernsee”). He was enthusiastic about the exhibition space: “No comparison to the exhibition options here in Siegerland. I am sure to be part of the next 'Hibatzld' editions. "

Laudator Erno L. Vroonen praised the exhibition not only as an art fair-like platform on which many opinions and ideas of art can be seen, but also as a low-threshold access to art and culture and the dialogue about art.

“Here you are accompanied.

And the great diversity is very promising for the future, ”he said.

Gmund's cultural advisor Josef Stecher and Kaltenbrunn landlord Matthias Strobel also welcomed the exhibition visitors with delight.
