Two American tourists who broke into Rome's Colosseum at night to drink a beer with a view were fined 800 euros, police said on Wednesday.
The two tourists, aged 24 and 25, who had climbed the walls of the famous Roman amphitheater on Monday at dawn, were spotted by an early bird, who immediately denounced them.

The police fined the two young tourists 800 euros, who admitted the facts, a police spokesperson told AFP, without giving further details.
Before the pandemic, some 25,000 tourists flocked every day to the Flavien Amphitheater, almost 2,000 years old and listed as a World Heritage Site.
