The Lattakia Agriculture Directorate started distributing and selling fruit trees in all agricultural centers in the governorate.
Bassem Doba, Director of Agriculture, explained to the SANA Economic Bulletin that the number of plants ready for distribution within the governorate is 831 thousand and there are 419 thousand plants that will be distributed to other governorates, especially citrus and olives, as well as a group of plantings of fallen leaves. Indicators for the individual sector, while distribution will be made to the cooperative sector through agricultural associations.
Doba pointed out that a role will be determined for each village or agricultural association to receive the plantings in order to facilitate the farmers and to ensure the speed of sale, noting that the number of citrus plants that will be distributed this season is 363,000 at a price of 2,500 SYP per plant, while 346 thousand olive plantations will be distributed and sold at 1,500 SYP in addition to 79 A thousand plantings of the type of deciduous leaves and 2000 plantings of a Shami rose.
With regard to the afforestation plan for this year, Doba indicated that the afforestation plan was launched on the first of this month and the plan was reduced to about 550 hectares due to the lack of qualified areas, pointing out that there are one million ready-made forest plants, the most important of which are fruit pine, carob, laurel, acacia, eucalyptus, Robinia, cypress, poplar and a group of Other types will be supplied to other governorates with a surplus of forest plants.
