Board game fans had to be patient for a long time, but now the long-awaited Tegernsee edition of the classic game Monopoly has finally appeared.

Tegernsee

- The implementation of the project was significantly delayed by Corona, many customers no longer wanted to really believe that they would have the game in their hands at some point (we reported).

But now CEO Timo Schap of Tiber Games can announce completion: "The game is here and has been sent to everyone who has ordered." If you want to jump on the train and buy a game, you need luck: At Tiber Games itself, Monopoly Tegernsee is already sold out .

Special edition already sold out

“We have been swept clean,” says Schap, who developed the game together with his partner Florian Berlinger. They were able to win over numerous well-known partners from the Tegernsee valley for the idea of their own Tegernsee edition. Including the Bräustüberl, the Hotel Überfahrt or the Wallbergbahn. All of them and many more are represented in the fields. However, the corona pandemic had dragged on both the recruiting for partners and the production of the game. Completion was originally planned for 2020.

Schap is sorry that the Tegernsee fans had to wait so long for their edition - after Monopoly Bamberg, Starnberger See, Fürth and Kitzbühel it is now the fifth local edition by the Nuremberg game makers.

The impatience of the customers who had already pre-ordered and paid for the game had recently grown.

"That is understandable," says Schap.

He also regrets that for some buyers the delivery came too late because the order was intended as a gift and thus linked to a date.

“There are already people who have been disappointed,” admits the managing director.

He emphasizes, however, that it was not Tiber Games, but rather the pandemic that was to blame for the delays.

"We were actually really on time."

Major delay in completion due to pandemic

The two Nuremberg entrepreneurs had a total of 4500 pieces of the Tegernsee Monopoly game produced. You actually work in the field of financial services and in the real estate business, developing the individualized games as a start-up, so to speak. "We put a lot of heart and soul into it," explains Schap. 2000 games were already pre-ordered when it hit the market. According to the managing director, a number of local partners and dealers have also accepted copies, for example Spielwaren Krömer in Tegernsee. If you want to buy the game here, you have to pay just under 60 euros. Since the Tegernsee edition is so popular, the game makers at Tiber Games are already considering a post-production. “But it will definitely not work before Christmas,” Schap regrets.Possibly the second batch of Tegernsee Monopoly could hit the market in the late spring of next year.
