The city of Olching cancels the Christmas market planned for the Advent weekends with a heavy heart, according to a statement.
The last decision was made to move the Christmas market to the Volksfestplatz instead of the two locations in the city center in order to be able to carry out strict access controls there under 2G conditions and with a fence, as stipulated in the resolutions of the Bavarian state government.
However, due to the steadily worsening situation in the clinics and the exponential increase in corona infections in the district, the district office has now urgently advised the municipalities to cancel the markets.
So the city is now pulling the emergency brake, they say.
Mayor advises vaccination
"I had very much hoped that we would be
able to save the Christmas market
with our forward-looking planning -
first two locations to rectify and then move to the Volksfestplatz with 2G -" said Mayor Magg. "A heartfelt thank you to all those involved who have worked beyond measure to enable a little normalcy for our citizens at this time with high security standards."
"I very much regret the cancellation because many people in our city were not only looking forward to the Christmas market, but are personally doing everything to end this pandemic, or at least to keep it under control," explains the mayor.
