Who would have walked in the moonlight, on July 20, 1984, on this beach of a paradise island in the Caribbean, would have seen, looking up, and his heart would have been aching seeing her so alone, a young girl in her stomach round like an egg posted in front of the door of a shed perched at the top of twenty-five steps without a protective ramp. But that night, at midnight, when 18-year-old Lala comes out because of pain gripping her and losing blood, the beach is empty.
