Austria is tightening its corona rules for travelers.
What travelers from Germany now need to know.
Vienna - Unvaccinated travelers will have to show a PCR test at the Austrian border in the future.
Rapid antigen tests will no longer be accepted on entry from Monday.
These inaccurate tests are only valid for cross-border commuters, as emerged from a regulation that was made public on Tuesday evening.
If you still want to go to Austria, you have to meet stricter criteria according to the new 2.5G rule (vaccinated, genetic or PCR-tested).
Vaccination certificates are no longer valid for a year, but only for nine months.
Unvaccinated commuters have to show negative PCR test results, which are only valid for 72 hours (previously one week).
Rapid tests are only valid for 24 hours instead of 48 hours for commuters.
