“Do you get around easily by bike on a daily basis?
»The Federation of Bicycle Users (FUB) invites cyclists to answer this question online, before November 30, as part of the Cycling Cities Barometer, on the barometre.parlons-velo.fr website
Through this questionnaire, everyone can assess the municipality or municipalities in which they travel by bicycle. Every two years, the responses collected in this barometer make it possible to measure the gaps - and the progress made everywhere in France. After answering a series of questions, the Internet user can indicate on a map the most problematic areas of his city, where cycling is considered dangerous or uncomfortable.
Even before the site closed, Île-de-France recorded a marked increase in participation compared to 2019. “We have already registered 34,000 participants, against 31,000 two years ago.
This really testifies to the boom in cycling and the enormous expectations of citizens in terms of cycle paths, ”analyzes Louis Belenfant, director of the Île-de-France cycling collective, which brings together around thirty associations.
Twice as many participants in many cities
To be taken into account, a locality must register at least 50 contributions. Many cities that have not yet been included in the barometer are already “qualified” for the first time. “There are already 38 more cities than in 2019. We are going from 148 to 186 cities in Île-de-France,” notes Louis Belenfant. Among them, localities of all profiles. Residents of municipalities such as Grigny, Bobigny, La Courneuve, Seine-Saint-Denis, now express their expectations for better cycling. In Aubervilliers, Saint-Denis, Noisy-le-Sec or Romainville, the number of voters has more than doubled. In Boulogne-Billancourt, growth is 180%.
The results of the barometer will be made public in February 2022. For the first time, prizes will be awarded to the best ranked cities in Île-de-France and in each department.
“The good news is that this city-by-city diagnosis is made at the start of the municipal mandate.
The mayors of poorly classified municipalities will have the end of their mandate to progress, ”said the spokesperson for the IDF cycling collective.
