Refugees on the Polish-Belarusian border: "We will die here"

Refugees have been waiting on the Polish-Belarusian border for a week.

They want to go to the EU - but Polish soldiers are stopping them and Belarusian soldiers are not letting them return.

Thousands of people are stuck and desperate, especially mothers with children.

Mother from Iraq:

“We are waiting for the states to help us and rescue us from here.

We are going to die here.

We have children with us.

We have been told that there are human rights in Europe.

But none of us care here. "

Mother from Iraq:

»My child has cancer.

That's why I'm here.

We couldn't complete the treatment.

I left everything behind and came here for my child.

We had an operation in Kirkuk.

We received chemotherapy at the Sulaymaniyah Animal Hospital.

But that wasn't enough for his healing. "

Around a thousand people were moved to a new sleeping camp last night.

To this end, the Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko cleared the warehouse of a logistics company.

But there is by no means room for everyone there.

Many others have to continue to sleep outside, in freezing temperatures - and it is getting colder and colder.

There had already been riots beforehand.

According to the Polish Interior Minister, a police officer was seriously injured in the head when he was hit by a thrown object.

The Polish forces used water cannons and apparently brought the situation under control for the time being.

The conflict on the border but the fate of many people is far from being resolved.
