Special Envoy to Milove and Stanytsia Louhanska (Donbass)
In a small village in eastern Ukraine, the rue de l'Amitié-des-Peuples separates two worlds that were once one.
On the one hand, 5,800 people live in the Ukrainian village of Milove.
On the other, almost double in Chertkovo, Russia.
Historically, the inhabitants work, study, and marry on both sides of the border.

But in 2014, the geographic division became tangible with, 120 kilometers to the south, the start of the war between Kiev and the separatist groups supported and financed by Moscow.
In 2018, a highly guarded fence was installed.
The lively street, once home to famous garage sales, is deserted.
In recent months, an unusual excitement has returned to the end of the road.
The border checkpoint, previously only used by locals, becomes the main route to Ukraine for residents of the self-proclaimed Donetsk republics
