The drive to the gas station is a test of patience for many drivers in view of the rising fuel prices.

Now e-car drivers also have to dig deeper and deeper into their pockets at the charging station.

Munich - Drivers of e-cars in Germany have to be prepared for higher prices for the use of fast charging stations on motorways, among other places.

The Dutch company Fastned has now done the same as other providers and has adjusted the prices for its charging stations upwards.

Although the start-up, which operates a large part of its fast charging stations in the Netherlands, is one of the smaller providers in Germany, the move confirms a process on the entire German market.

Charging e-cars is getting more expensive - next provider of fast charging stations is raising prices

Fastned recently increased the prices at the fast charging stations by 10 cents to 69 cents per kilowatt hour. A surcharge of almost 17 percent. Customers who have taken out a subscription with the Dutch provider for 11.99 euros per month can charge at a discounted rate and pay 45 cents for the kilowatt hour. Fastned operates a total of 164 stations in five countries in Europe.

Compared to the national competition, Tesla remains the cheapest provider.

Tesla drivers can also purchase the kilowatt hour for 40 cents in the Supercharger network without a subscription.

The US group had also adjusted the prices for the use of its charging infrastructure upwards in 2021.

However, the company's pricing policy also has marketing-related reasons.

The US manufacturer uses the comparatively low charging costs as a sales argument to convince potential customers to buy a Tesla.

In comparison, the kilowatt hour now costs 55 cents for the charging stations from EnBW.

On the other hand, you have to pay 79 cents at charging stations from Ionity.

Fastned is Ionity have less room for maneuver in their pricing policy than the competition, since the provision of charging infrastructure is the sole business area for this company.
