The firefighting teams in Tartous governorate put out the fire that broke out this afternoon in areas of forest and agricultural lands on the Taanta Al-Qadmous highway.
The commander of the Tartous Fire Brigade, Colonel Samir Shamma, told SANA reporter that the elements of the Tartous Fire Brigade, in cooperation with the elements of the Forestry Department at the Directorate of Agriculture and Civil Defense and the Baniyas Refinery Company, put out the fire, which is now in the process of cooling and monitoring to prevent the ignition of any new hotspots.
Shamma pointed out that the difficulty of firefighting vehicles reaching the location of the fire and the ruggedness of the area contributed to its expansion and the delay in extinguishing it, which made the dependence mainly on the workers of the Forestry Department in the Directorate of Agriculture.
