Russia published the exchanged messages between Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov with his French counterparts Jean-Yves Le Drian and German Heiko Maas to prevent distortion of Moscow's position on a ministerial meeting on Ukraine in the Normandy format.
And the website of Russia Today channel quoted a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry that “Russia has recently witnessed a distortion of its position and role in the internal Ukrainian settlement and its approaches to a possible ministerial meeting within the Normandy format,” noting that “to prevent the emergence of new speculation, we decided to release the primary sources and publish the exchange of messages.” Diplomacy between Lavrov and his German and French counterparts.
Late last month, the Russian Foreign Ministry deplored the silence of Germany and France, the two sides of the Normandy Quartet, on the public threats made by the Ukrainian authorities against Moscow, warning of the impact of these threats on the negotiation process on the Ukraine crisis within the framework of the Minsk Agreement.
In 2015, Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine reached an agreement in the Belarusian capital, Minsk, providing for a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine.
