Israel, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and the United States will sign a precedent-setting agreement on energy cooperation this coming Monday.
According to the agreement in principle, the Emirates will finance the construction of a huge solar farm in Jordan, not far from the border with Israel, which will purchase from the Jordanians the electricity generated at the site.
The farm is supposed to provide a few percent of the total electricity consumption in Israel.
At the same time, the Emirates will fund the construction of a water desalination plant located in the north of the country - probably near Nahariya.
The water produced at the plant will be used by the Kingdom of Jordan in exchange for payment to be transferred to Israel and the Emirates.
One possibility is that they will first flow to the Sea of Galilee and from there to the Jordan, or directly to the kingdom's water system.
It should be noted that this is a preliminary memorandum and not yet a full agreement, partly because the final details are still unclear.
