The Center for Health Protection stated that it received a notification from the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission yesterday that the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region found a sample of package packaging sent from Inner Mongolia to Hong Kong that tested positive for the new crown virus and that it had arrived in Hong Kong.

The package was sent from Inner Mongolia on November 7 and arrived at the address of the recipient in Hong Kong on November 13. The recipient immediately discarded the outer packaging and washed the clothes in the package after signing for it.

The Center for Health Protection has recommended that the recipient should pay attention to hand hygiene at all times, disinfect household surfaces that have been in contact with the package, and require the recipient to be tested for the new coronavirus.

Since the parcel in question had stayed in a local logistics warehouse, the center has advised warehouse operators to pay attention to environmental disinfection and collect environmental samples from the warehouse. The test results were all negative.

The Hong Kong government has asked for the opportunity to have the person who had contact with the parcel involved to be tested.

The Centre for Health Protection reminds to wash and disinfect hands after handling purchased goods

The Center for Health Protection continued that in a non-refrigerated environment, the new crown virus generally survives no more than a few days. After the packaging involved arrives in Hong Kong, the chance of carrying a live infectious virus is low. The public is urged to deal with outsourced goods, especially When goods are shipped from other places to Hong Kong, personal and environmental hygiene must be maintained at all times, and hands must be kept clean.

Wash and disinfect your hands after touching the goods, especially before eating and touching your mouth, nose or eyes.

It is understood that the logistics warehouse involved is not SF Express.

SF Express stated that it has always attached great importance to the safety and hygiene of express shipments and has strictly implemented "full-process" epidemic prevention measures since the epidemic, including self-operated outlets, transit facilities, warehouses, and operating vehicles throughout Hong Kong, as well as disinfection of customer shipments. It also stipulates that employees need to take their body temperature, wear masks correctly, wash their hands frequently, and use handrub before work every day.
