In view of the high vaccination demand, the district wants to massively increase its vaccination capacities.

With a "drive-through" vaccination station, older district citizens in particular are to be given the opportunity to receive an uncomplicated third-party vaccination.

Karlsfeld

- The highlight of the "drive-through" format: For the booster vaccinations, detailed medical explanations are no longer necessary, so that a quick check-in in the car is justifiable.

In addition, those willing to be vaccinated do not have to wait in the cold in wind and weather, but can simply roll down their window in the heated car and stretch their upper arm towards the vaccination doctor.

The vaccination station is to be operated by the Johannitern at Karlsfelder See, where the vaccination center was set up until the end of September.

District Administrator Stefan Löwl names December 7th as the planned start date.

“The concept is there, the logistics are there, and so is the vaccine.” According to Löwl, all that is now missing is the staff.

Depending on how many employees Johanniter will acquire for their “drive-through” vaccination station in the next few days, this will be the number of vaccinations that can be administered there in the end.

According to the district administrator, it is certain that it will be a “mass processing” with “several hundred vaccinations per week”.

The fact that the station was even necessary is due to the enormous demand for vaccinations in the past few days.

In addition to third-party vaccinations, many first-time vaccinations are also in demand.

Dr.

Christian Günzel, health care physician in the district, cannot resist the remark that many a vaccination jam is also due to the fact that "in the months from August to October, unfortunately, over 10,000 vaccination offers were not taken".

Another reason for the current vaccination jam in the district is, according to District Administrator Löwl, the fact that many people who want to be vaccinated come from other districts or the state capital to Dachau to pick up their pricks. In the past week alone, according to the district office, almost 50 percent of all vaccinations were given to non-rural residents.

For the planned "drive-through" vaccination station, there should therefore be a double appointment system.

For example, those willing to vaccinate can still register via the Bayimco registration portal across Bavaria.

But since older citizens in particular are no longer as computer-savvy, they would “often fall behind” with this system, says Löwl.

For this reason, a call center is to be set up in the district office, which is to convey the registrations of older people willing to be vaccinated who want to be vaccinated at the "drive-through" vaccination station.

Even if the offer has not yet been planned down to the last detail, one thing is already clear for Löwl: “The focus of those vaccinated is the district.” STEFANIE ZIPFER
