Against the background of the cases of violence at Soroka and Meir hospitals, President Yitzhak Herzog visited the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya and demanded that enforcement measures be taken to deal with the phenomenon.
"I am following with concern the escalation of violence throughout the country. The events we have seen in recent days at Soroka and Meir hospitals are shocking and serious," the president noted.
"Unfortunately, I hear that this is a widespread phenomenon in many hospitals all over the country - a real blow to the state."
The president added: "There can be no situation in which Israeli citizens do not feel safe in the place that is supposed to be the safest for them. How can it be that the place we are going to receive life-saving treatment becomes a life-threatening place? Where have we come from?"
"We must condemn and condemn the phenomenon of violence in any way possible," Herzog said.
"One has to mobilize with all one's might to uproot it and eradicate it. I am sure that the various systems understand the severity of the situation and will do everything to activate both enforcement and prevention as well as advocacy to deal with this serious phenomenon."
