The head of the Ateret Yeshiva in Jerusalem, Rabbi Aviv Tzobari, neutralized the terrorist today (Wednesday) in a stabbing attack in the Old City of Jerusalem.
Six years earlier, his good friend, the late Rabbi Nehemiah Lavi, was killed in the same incident, on the same street, when he came to the aid of Israelis who were stabbed by a terrorist in the Old City.

"They were good friends," says a former security guard in the Old City, adding: "Rabbi Lavi and Rabbi Tzobari lived right next to each other and I would accompany them many times in the early hours of the morning to study at the yeshiva."

In October 2015, the late Rabbi Nehemiah Lavie heard the screams of a woman outside his home. Despite the danger and the hostile environment, he left his home, encountered a terrorist and fought him with all his might. The terrorist, armed with a knife, managed to stab the late Rabbi Lavie and murder him.
For his work he received the Medal of Civil Courage.
In an attack that took place this evening on Hagai Street, Rabbi Tzobari found himself in front of a terrorist armed with a knife.
He fired at him and neutralized him, thereby saving both his own life and the lives of the border fighters.
