The Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev agreed, during a telephone conversation with the US President's National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, today to work to improve the atmosphere of relations between the two countries.
Sputnik news agency quoted the Russian Security Council as saying in a statement today, "The two sides agreed to work together to improve the atmosphere of Russian-American relations and raise the level of trust between the two countries," noting that "the talks were constructive and came within the framework of preparing for future contacts at the highest level."
Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Joe Biden held their first summit last June, during which they announced the launch of a substantial and active bilateral dialogue on strategic stability, and affirmed their countries' adherence to the necessity of preventing a nuclear war.
