The campaign alliance for the preservation of the Schongau hospital, which was founded at the beginning of the month, feels that its fears have been confirmed by the report by the hospital supervisory board.

According to the Supervisory Board, Schongau should be further developed “as a modern health care provider”, while inpatient health care should be bundled “at a central location”.
"From this it can be clearly deduced where the journey should go - to a centrally located large hospital - but the population is still left in the dark," says emergency paramedic Stefan Konrad from the alliance in an interview with the local newspaper.
However, one can only enter into a substantive debate "when the facts are on the table".
The action alliance therefore formulated two key demands immediately after it was founded: the immediate publication of the entire report on the future of the Weilheim-Schongau GmbH hospital and postponing the debate on this in the district council until at least March 2022.
“District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß has not even confirmed receipt of the letter.
And according to our information, the resolution has not yet been forwarded to all district councils, as originally requested, ”said Konrad.
The Schongau hospital site has been weakened for a long time
That fits perfectly with the picture that the Schongau residents of the behavior of the district and the management of the hospital GmbH. "District administrator and managing director Thomas Lippmann were repeatedly invited to the city council to discuss the future of the Schongau hospital location," reports Konrad, who sits on the city council for the SPD. They never accepted this invitation. Instead, there had been a heated debate in the district council because Lippmann had appeared in the town hall in Böbing, but had left the Schongau city council by the left. This behavior, but also the last statement by the supervisory board, should not necessarily be understood as a confidence-building measure in terms of hospital maintenance in Schongau, said Konrad."When the hospital was shut down last year due to a mass corona infection of the employees, we already got a foretaste of what happens when a house like this is gone," he said. The ways would get further and further, the rescue times longer.
For some time now, there has been a clear trend towards weakening the Schongau location in favor of Weilheim, says nurse Regina Haugg, who appeared at the editorial meeting with Konrad. She also has examples ready. The vascular surgery and the stroke unit, which is responsible for the treatment of stroke patients, have been relocated to Weilheim. Some time ago, some of the stroke patients could have been operated on on site in Schongau. That is no longer possible now.
Urology, which was known far beyond the city limits of Schongau for a long time, never came back after the Corona closure last year.
In addition, there were a lot of missed opportunities to strengthen the location and make it future-proof, adds Stefan Konrad.
Since doctors simply couldn't be found in Weilheim, the maternity ward had been moved to Schongau, but there was still no ward for pediatric emergencies.
"Instead, the Linder must then be relocated to Garmisch or Starnberg," says Konrad.
The psychiatry in Landsberg is bursting at the seams, especially in the Schongau area there are many facilities for the care of the mentally ill, "but a branch of the Landsberg clinic has not been set up."
Instead, more and more people are being relocated to Weilheim. The surgical robot? Stand in Weilheim. The additional container CT? Is in Weilheim, although Schongau is officially a Covid focus clinic, says Konrad. “A lot of money is being spent in Weilheim in a location that cannot grow,” adds Regina Haugg. And reminds us that the Weilheim hospital is located in the middle of the city and offers little room for expansion. “And when space is available, it is bought at moon prices,” says Haugg. She alluded to the fact that a few years ago the district had paid 4.8 million euros for a 1740 square meter property next to the Weilheim hospital, which is still not in use today. “And that in view of the fact that it would be easy to expand in Schongau,” Konrad continued.
Weilheim and Schongau hospitals should not be played off against each other
Both made it clear, however, that they did not want to play off the hospital locations in Weilheim and Schongau against each other.
"We stand behind the workforce of both houses," said Konrad.
However, the debate must be conducted openly - that should be done in a democracy.
The information policy of the district and hospital GmbH is inadequate.
Also for the district councils, who would have to make far-reaching decisions without having been fully informed.
That is why it is hoped that even more people from the western district will join the non-partisan action alliance.
